FCBOE Work Session - March

The Fulton County Board of Education met for their monthly work session on March 12, 2024.
  • Dr. Morancie discusses the different academic efforts across Fulton County to support education. Centennial NHS and NEHS students volunteered on Read Across America day and read to lower school students.

  • Ms. Gregory congratulating Riverwood High School for knocking out the state defending champion of GHSA to bring home their first state championship.

  • Northview HOSA students earned first place in life support skills, MRC partnership, medical innovation. Rashi Patel was chosen to be Georgia HOSA state officer Vice President of innovation.

  • 256 AP Honor Schools in the nation and 17 out of 19 of the Fulton County schools are listed as AP Honor Schools.

  • The board consents Item 6.01 to approve of pre-calculus and calculus textbooks.

  • The board consent to the first read of Item 6.02 about dual immersion learning programs.

  • The board consent to the first read of Item 6.03 about speech and oral/written communication classes.

  • The board consent to the first read of Item 6.04 about adding visual and performing arts courses.

  • The board consents Item 6.05 Roswell High School proposes the addition of an AP African American studies course.

  • The board consents to the first read of Item 6.06 about career, technical, mental health, and agricultural education courses.

  • The board consents to the first read of Item 6.07 about supplemental instructional material in schools.

  • The board consents to Item 7.01 which is the minutes for the February meeting.

  • The board consents to the first read of Item 7.02 Amana Academy Charter Amendment to increase the enrollment cap to allow them to be eligible for a Charter School Grant.

  • The board is informed about Item 7.03 which involves the March 2024 Board Policy schedule review.

  • The board consents to Item 7.04 about the board procedure GAMA employee drug and alcohol testing.

  • The board consents to Item 7.05 about a board procedure EBB emergency preparedness plan.

  • The board recognizes students. Amber Liu is recognized for being the number one Under 15 table tennis player in the United States. River School Middle School won all eight matches for the Academic Bowl Championship and were claimed state champions.

  • The board opens up for public statements.

  • The meeting is adjourned.
