Applause and cheers ring through the football stadium as Northview's 2026 Homecoming Titans take the stage to represent the spirit of their school. These Titans leave a lasting impact on their peers, community, and school as they bring the senior class together for one last hurrah.
This year, Northview seniors crowned Ella Poling and Trinity Jung as Homecoming Titans. Northview chooses Homecoming Titans who embody Northview's four pillars: compassion, integrity, positive attitude, and personal responsibility. At the annual Homecoming football game, these Titans walked the field with the support and encouragement of their student body.
Poling is a member of Northview's Beta Club and the varsity cheer team, as well as a violinist in Northview's Mastery Orchestra. Cameron Baker, one of Poling's friends, shares what makes Poling unique.
"I can't pinpoint a favorite [memory]. Whenever I'm near her. I always just feel so much happier, and she's one of my best friends, and I love being around her," Baker said.
With the support of her peers and friends such as Baker, Poling reflects on being voted for Homecoming Titan.
"Hearing my name called was definitely a surprising moment. I feel very honored and grateful that I won, especially knowing it was because my classmates voted for me," Poling said.
Outside of school, Poling is involved in church and volunteer work. She describes how her activities and the people in her life have impacted her.
I think my mom and my friends, as well as my school activities, like orchestra and cheer, have helped shape me into the person I am. The people around me have always had a great influence and helped me be the best version of myself," Poling said.
Jung is Student Council president and helps organize various school events such as Homecoming. Outside of Student Council, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing pickleball, and listening to music. Karaya Macharia, a friend of Jung's, highlights her school involvement.
"She has very good charisma. I think people like her as a person. She's pretty extroverted; she talks to everyone," Macharia said. "She definitely participates in the school spirit activities. She dressed up last week, and she [told] other people to do it as well. She's a good president."
Northview senior Claire Kim connects Jung's Homecoming Titan title to her outgoing personality.
"I love her personality, and I think that [is because of] how spirited she is and how funny she is. She's so easy to talk to, and I love that she's the face of our Homecoming Court because she's one of the funniest people I have ever met," Claire Kim said.
Jung states her reaction to being voted Homecoming Titan and what impression she would like to make on Northview.
"I feel very blessed and surprised because I was not expecting to win at all, and I'm so happy to have great friends and peers who support me," Jung said. "I would love to make a positive impact on Northview through my role in student council and other school-associated activities."
Even though the homecoming season has come to an end, the Northview spirit is undying. This tradition brings the student body together and remains a lasting Northview celebration. Poling and Jung will leave their mark at Northview as they move on to the next chapter of their lives.
